Sarah 03\/07\/18<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Wayne\u2019s working hard every day he doesn\u2019t like to take a day off. The glider has become his new best friend he says he does not know how he managed before without it. Every week his strength in his core and legs is improving and using the glider he feels is helping with the blood circulation into his legs and he can feel a real difference when he uses it. His balance has improved so much in the last year and his awareness of where his legs are now is improving. Represented Ireland at the mx of nations and at under 21 levels also. Wayne started racing at 7 years old and has been racing for 24 years coming through the youth ranks winning championships in Ireland and finishing the best 4th in the British youth championship. On 24th July Wayne had an accident while competing in the Irish championship in Athlone, unfortunately, he broke T3 in his back broke numerous ribs and sternum he had to have 2 operations to stabilize his back.<\/p>\n<p>Wayne spent 7 weeks in the Mater hospital in Dublin and just over 3 in the Royal hospital Belfast. Wayne is happy to have been moved to Musgrave hospital Belfast for rehabilitation. He is getting stuck into the Physio giving it 110% as always. So far he tells me it\u2019s not tough enough for him too relaxed for what he usually does in the gym. He has got the hang of the bed to chair transfers pretty quickly and the Physio says he will be doing it on his own in the next few days. Within the first few weeks, Wayne has got to grips with chair and is getting shown how to wheelie it already.
