In Max’s honor\, he has reached out to Road 2 Recover to create an event designed to generate funds specifically geared for injured riders and racers that may need the resources to deal with the onslaught of depression. \nFighting the Dark\nDepression is so much more than the disappointment of not making the podium or being side lined with an injury. Depression may start with harmless disappointment but unchecked it can advance like many other illnesses\, to the point that it becomes debilitating or even fatal. Depression is not the result of a negative attitude but quite the opposite. Upbeat\, positive people can succumb to the overwhelming effects. The real physical manifestations are many. Distortion of thinking / reason\, body /joint pain\, appetite loss and worst of all\, loss of hope. \nPeople don’t choose to be depressed but they can choose how to combat it. Joining together it is a winnable fight. The life you save may one day be your own or someone you love. \n \nEvent\nThe First Annual Max Matters Motocross is scheduled for Sunday\, October 4th and will be hosted at Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino CA. Classes will include 85cc and up\, vintage to modern\, young to not so young. The hillside course will be challenging but deliberately accommodating to all skill levels. Entry fees for Members receive the first entry for $35 and subsequent entries are $20. Non-members receive the first entry for $45 and subsequent entries are $20. Registration and fees are handled at the event. American Retrocross will be the host club organizing the event. More information can be found at www.americanretrocross.org.\n\nDonations:\nCompanies\, riders and/or fans are encouraged to donate items to the online and on-site auctions that will be forthcoming. This required a radical surgery removing a large portion of his jaw bone and 17 rounds of radiation. To occupy his mind and hands\, he found and purchased two 500s to work on when he was fighting to survive during his recovery. This led to a discussion with me about rebuilding 500s and a garage build project. After all\, the two of us grew up racing together in Arizona and we’ve both since become firefighters. Cancer within the fire service is rampant due to the exposure to carcinogenic materials on the job\, making this project something very personal to both of us. \n  \nWhen Justin got the bikes\, they were pretty beat up. We had to tear them all the way down to the frame. After reviewing the needed parts and getting a list together\, parts were ordered. We were ready to get down to business. The frames were repainted and the bikes were rebuilt from the frame up. This was a 3 to 4-month process to complete and really helped Justin to deal with his serious health issues. One of the bikes Justin plans to keep and ride as a reminder of the single most difficult thing he’s ever had to deal with. The other bike he wanted to auction off to charity and the folks at Road 2 Recovery were our non-profit of choice. \nThe bike is currently up for auction.\nTo bid\, click HERE!\n\nThe parts list for this project is below: \nA special thanks to Cahuilla Creek MX   www.cahuillacreekmotocross.com \n  \nHot Rods      \nwww.hotrodsproducts.com \nComplete Crankshaft \nMain bearings \nMain Seals \n  \nVertex Pistons                   \nwww.vertexpistons.com \nPro Replica Piston kit  (ring\, pin and clips) \n  \nCometic Gasket                      \nwww.cometic.com                   \nEngine gaskets \n  \nFMF Racing                               \nwww.fmfracing.com \nFatty exhaust \nPowercore Silencer \n  \nSupersprox                                       \nwww.supersproxusa.com \nFront & Rear Sprocket \nMX Chain \n  \nPivot Works                              \nwww.pivotworks.com \nSteering stem bearing kit \nLinkage rebuild kit \nSwing arm rebuild kit \nWheel Bearings front & rear \n  \nDunlop Tire \nwww.dunlopmotorcycle.com \nMX33 front \nMX33 Rear \n  \nAll Balls  \nwww.allballsracing.com \nCarb Rebuild kit \nThrottle Cable \nClutch Cable \n  \nFaster USA             \nwww.fasterusa.com \nStock hubs treated and rebuilt with new spokes and Excel Takasago rims \nCerakote of the hubs and water pump cover. \n  \nHinson Clutch Components \nwww.hinsonracing.com \nFull Clutch set up \n  \nUni Filter \nwww.unifilter.com \nTwo-stage Air Filter \n  \nUFO Plastic            \nwww.ufoplasticusa.com \nFull plastic kit —  08 Front fender \nFront Disc guard \n  \nMoto Seat                \nwww.motoseat.com \nCustom Seat Cover \nSeat Foam \n  \nWorks Connection                 \nwww.worksconnection.com \nHour Meter and Mount \nStand \nFront Brake Rotating bar mount \nSteering Stem nut \nBrake Reservoir cap \nElite Clutch Perch \nOil Filler plug \nRotating Bar Clamp \nFork bleeder valves \nSkid Plate \n  \nFuel Star \nwww.fuel-star.com \nFuel Valve Assy \n  \nMotoTassinari     \nwww.mototassinari.com \nV-Force Reed Cage \n  \nMylers Radiators  \nwww.motorcycleradiators.com \nSilicon Radiator Hoses \n  \nTM Designs  \nwww.tmdesignworks.com \nRear Chain Guide \n  \nTusk   \nwww.tuskoffroad.com \nFront brake line \nRear brake line \nFront Rotor \nRear Rotor \n  \nRenthal \nwww.renthal.com \nGrips \nBars which bend \n  \nRide Engineering  \nwww.ride-engineering.com \nFront brake line clamp \n  \nEnzo Racing  \nwww.enzoracing.com \nRe-Valve and set up \n  \nBoyesen Engineering \nwww.boyesen.com \nIgnition Covers \nClutch Covers \n  \nZr1 Suspension Services  \nwww.zr1suspension.com \nSuspension rebuild and service \n  URL:https://www.road2recovery.com/event/1992-93-cr500-rebuild-ebay-auction-for-r2r/ ATTACH;FMTTYPE=: END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=America/Los_Angeles:20190712T080000 DTEND;TZID=America/Los_Angeles:20190727T090000 DTSTAMP:20250519T214318 CREATED:20190712T190004Z LAST-MODIFIED:20190712T190004Z UID:10000095-1562918400-1564218000@www.road2recovery.com SUMMARY:The Throttle Syndicate CR125 My Bike Giveaway Contest! Amazingly this picture was shot from the stadium seats around the 17th row by David\, an amatuer photographer who was attending his first Supercross race. \nDavid took the 4X6 Kodak print to the next race in Charlotte and asked Ricky to sign it for him. Ricky instead asked David if he could keep the photo and David obliged. A few minutes later David was feeling remorse for not leaving his contact info with Ricky. He returned only to find Ricky had left. He gave his info to Ricky’s mechanic. \nLong story short Ricky gave the photo to Johnny O’Mara from Oakley to make copies for him. From there everyone has Oakley loved the photo but didn’t know how to reach the photographer. Jim Jannard the founder of Oakley decided to run with it and beg for forgiveness if the photographer ever came forward. So the second half of 1997 the poster went into production. The photo was ultimately used for posters\, Oakley’s website\, the supercross program\, and a billboard on the 405 freeway in Southern CA.  For the complete story check out the June issue of Racer X. \nIn addition to Ricky’s autograph\, what makes this poster even more rare is\, not only is it from David’s personal collection\, it’s from the very small run of posters Oakley printed giving David photo credit. \nIn a message from David he wrote ““I brought this poster with me when I attended the NJ Supercross in April.  I got the opportunity to spend a little time with Ricky and talk about this crazy story and life in general.  Ricky is one of the most down to earth and genuine people you could meet.  He was eager to help out Road 2 Recovery by signing this poster so they could auction it off.  So\, not only are you getting an extremely rare\, autographed poster\, you are donating to an organization that helps out injured riders of the sport we all love.” \nTo check out more of David’s work click here- dmsphotography.net \n  URL:https://www.road2recovery.com/event/ebay-auction-live-now/ ATTACH;FMTTYPE=: END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=America/Los_Angeles:20190526T080000 DTEND;TZID=America/Los_Angeles:20191201T170000 DTSTAMP:20250519T214318 CREATED:20190614T030547Z LAST-MODIFIED:20190614T030547Z UID:10000094-1558857600-1575219600@www.road2recovery.com SUMMARY:ENTER TO WIN A 2019 HONDA CRF450L Benefitting John Fonteyn DESCRIPTION:ENTER TO WIN A 2019 HONDA CRF450L\nAll proceeds go to John Fonteyn’s R2R Fund!\n  \nWith a $10 donation you can win the bike that everyone is talking about! The team has joined forces with Road 2 Recovery (R2R) in an effort to increase awareness and raise funding for the 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization. \nTwo one-of-a-kind sets will be available via a worldwide eBay auction beginning on February 13\, 2019\, at 9 a.m. PST. The first item is the complete set of plastics off of Adam Cianciarulo’s Kawasaki KX250 – the exact same set used en route to victory at the San Diego Supercross. The other set is Garrett Marchbanks’ San Diego Supercross second-place winning Kawasaki KX250 complete set of plastics. Both plastic sets include an autographed number plate by either Cianciarulo or Marchbanks. \nThese plastics are a one-off creation\, designed specifically for the San Diego Supercross military appreciation event. They hold a significant prominence as both sets landed on the podium\, bringing home a first and second place result for the Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki team. All proceeds from this auction will go to R2R’s injured rider fund; ensuring that any pro AMA licensed Motocross or Supercross athlete with a debilitating injury will be financially supported. \nThis auction will be a seven-day auction\, closing starting at 9 a.m. PST on February 20\, 2019.
